Throw Light

The Throw Light reimagines the traditional wall sconce as an open, adaptable object. A minimalist structural frame serves as an armature—not for a fixed shade, but for fabric, draped or “thrown” over it by hand. The textile is the true protagonist: its weight, weave, and drape entirely define the luminaire’s volume, texture, and glow, and even the gesture of draping becomes part of the design. In its essential form, the Throw Light invites its owner to dress it with fabrics of their own choosing, changing character with every new piece of cloth.

For a more considered expression, the Throw Light is also available as a limited series of unique pieces, each styled with an exceptional fabric from Weberei, a Berlin-based weaving studio specializing in bespoke textile development. The two fabrics shown here were both woven in Italy: a plain weave on a mulberry silk warp with a copper wire weft, and a jacquard weave on a cotton warp with a wool bouclé weft. Draped over the frame, each becomes a sculptural diffuser with its own distinct texture and light.
